Spot the Surfacing!

Jun 16, 2010

From tarmac to bark chip to wetpour, the play areas of Cheltenham Borough Council have certainly seen their fair share of surfacing over the years! But it’s Matta Products’ Safety Mattas surfacing that is proving the best solution for the popular play parks of Cheltenham.

With tarmac offering no safety for playing children, bark chip pits requiring constant maintenance and the frequently vandalised wetpour needing repair, Cheltenham Council welcomed the installation of Safety Mattas to most of the playgrounds in their borough.

According to Tony McNamara (Community Parks Development Officer) and Mark Goodchild (Playground Technical Officer) ‘The products from Matta are 100% better, maintenance free, have no edges and the longer they are there, the better they get. In 12 years we have never seen any wear on our Matta Products surfacing.’’

"The Safety Mattas surface has become so established and grown in at some sites, that safety inspectors struggle to find the edge to confirm the full area of the safety surfacing!"
